West Coast Conference Tournament Preview and Predictions

The West Coast Conference tournament begins on Thursday March 7th. All games are at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The championship will be at 9 PM on Tuesday, March 12th.

Here are some teams to watch in this tournament:

#1 Saint Mary’s : Saint Mary’s came up just 1 game short of an undefeated WCC season, losing to Gonzaga in its season finale. Saint Mary’s plays strong defense, efficient offense, and is likely headed back to the NCAA tournament regardless of what happens in this game.

#2 Gonzaga : Gonzaga was on the bubble and in danger of missing the NCAA tournament for most of the season, but they have gone undefeated following a home loss to Saint Mary’s and have picked up 3 Q1 road wins in that stretch over Kentucky, San Francisco, and Saint Mary’s. Gonzaga is playing its best basketball at the right time and their offense is rolling. They are my pick to win this tournament and they could climb up to the 5 or 6 seed line if they do so.

#3 San Francisco : USF is a solid team that unfortunately has to deal with two mid major powerhouses in Saint Mary’s and Gonzaga. USF went 11-1 in the WCC outside of Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s and although they aren’t likely to pull off upsets of those two teams, they are worth mentioning as the clear #3 team in this conference.
