Southland Conference Tournament Preview and Predictions

The Southland Conference tournament begins on Sunday March 10th. All games are at the Legacy Center in Lake Charles, LA. The championship will be at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, March 13th.

Here are some teams to watch in this tournament:

#1 McNeese State: McNeese State has been dominant all season, going 28-3 overall and 17-1 in conference while picking up a trio of Q2 wins over VCU, Michigan, and UAB. McNeese State is strong on both sides of the ball, but their defense has been playing phenomenal as of late, ranked #23 in defensive efficiency since February 1. McNeese State is the heavy favorite and one of the top mid major teams this season. I am backing Will Wade and these dominant cowboys in this tournament.

#2 Texas A&M Corpus Christi: Texas A&M CC has won 6 straight games coming into the conference tournament. They are strong and aggressive defensively, playing a physical style of defense that can sometimes foul too much, but also leads to stops, turnovers, and rebounds. This program has won the southland tournament two straight seasons and they will challenge to win it again this year.

#3 Nicholls State: Nicholls State comes into the tournament having won 5 of their last 6, only losing to McNeese State in that span. They upset LSU early on this year and went 13-5 in conference play. Their offense has started to click recently and they are definitely in the mix to win this tournament.
