Big Sky Conference Tournament Preview and Predictions

The Big Sky Conference tournament begins on Saturday March 9th. All games are at the Idaho central arena in Boise, Idaho. The championship will be at 11:30 PM on Wednesday, March 13th.

Here are some teams to watch in this tournament:

#1 Eastern Washington: Eastern Washington likes to play fast and they can really shoot the ball. They went 15-3 in the big sky, winning the conference regular season championship. Their defense can be a little susceptible at times but the offense is really talented, they dominated conference play, and they will be the favorite in this tournament.

#3 Montana: Just like Eastern Washington, Montana is strong offensively and can shoot the ball while leaving a little to be desired on the defensive end. They were solid in conference play but went 0-2 vs Eastern Washington. Still, they are an experienced team with 6 seniors in the rotation and they will certainly be in the mix to win this tournament.

#4 Weber State: Weber State is the most balanced of these three teams, but not as strong offensively as EWU or Montana. They did have a successful non-conference, beating Saint Mary’s and Yale in the process. They went 8-2 in their last 10 games with a win over Eastern Washington in that stretch. Weber State has shown it’s ability to beat good teams and is playing its best basketball at the right time, so they are my pick to win the Big Sky tournament.
